VENUE by Sebastian, helmed by the former chef-owner of Restaurant Ember is located at Downtown Gallery as a casual restaurant serving contemporary European cuisine with selective Asian influences filled by Chef Sebastian’s ideas and inspirations.
The white and grey with muted blue accents give the restaurant a bright and clean interior which makes the place feels relaxed and welcoming. There’s two long bar counter located at the front of the restaurant which serves as a divider and an open concept kitchen where the chef prepares your favourite dishes.
There’s quite a selection on the menu and we settled with two mains and a dessert to share. Hand-cut Pasta, Duck Ragout, Parmigiano reggiano ($21) was al dente and the sauce was rich and intense.
My favourite dish goes to the Chilean Sea Bass, Mushroom-bacon ragout, Truffle Yuzu Butter Sauce ($36). Other than having a taste and texture similar to a cod, it’s the best combination when you eat it with the truffle yuzu butter sauce. Lovely!
The Pear Tart, Crumble, Bailey’s ice cream ($14), however, did not leave much impression on me. It’s nice but not outstanding.
Although it might not be a wallet-friendly restaurant to some of you, it’s definitely worth coming back as the small plates menu is extensive and they do introduce new items regularly too.
