A trip to Khao Yai would not be complete without a visit to the Chocolate Factory. The place provides a rest stop for coffee, chocolate, baked goodies and a restaurant as well.
When you walk through the door, you will find a perfect photo spot with large replica of chocolates. The next thing that caught our eye was the large glass room where workers are busy tempering chocolate, decorating cakes and baking pastries.
Grab some chocolates, cookies and order a coffee to rest your tired feet. Our recommendation is to take away a few bags of the dark chocolate cookies and yummy cakes.
The Chocolate Restaurant
The Chocolate Restaurant is designed to provide a warm and welcoming feel with the wooden floors, large panel windows, and yellowish lighting. We had initially hoped that there would be chocolate-infused dishes however this was not available.
We started lunch with shrimp tiles stuffed with mozzarella cheese and sweet corn(180B++), the tiles came with a sweet sauce that tasted like Thai sweet chilly sauce. The shrimp tiles were tasty and the corn gave a good bite.
We continued with Alfredo: Bacon, mushroom and gorgonzola cheese sauce(280B+). The pasta was cooked perfectly and the rich gorgonzola cheese sauce coating each strand evenly. The Bacon and mushroom provide good flavor and we could not fault the dish.
Having a slight Thai food craving, we also ordered the Stir-fried squids with yellow curry sauce (280B++). The squid was soft and the curry sauce was fragrant without being overly spicy. Pricy for Thai food but it was worth the price.
Originally we had wanted to try the Fried Minced pork with Basil Pizza(320B++) however the order was not entered into the system and we decided to give the pizza a miss as it would take another half hour.
Overall The Chocolate Factory is worth a visit for a quick picture and to get some chocolate goodies for the long car ride back to Bangkok city.
