糖水春
What comes to your mind when you see this 3 characters?
I’m sure you will think of desserts right? Basically because 糖水 refers to dessert as well.
After the successful waves of its first outlet at Ang Mo Kio Hub, the popular dessert-cum-dim-sum eatery Sweet Spring has opened its second outlet at the biggest heartland mall, nex at Serangoon!
Was really glad and excited to be invited for a food tasting session of their new menu and this time round i brought my BBFs along! We all LOVED to eat!
Was greeted by the extremely friendly staff and dim sum was served to us before the mains.
Steamed Spicy Wanton 京都云吞 $3.90
The wanton is really spicy and the fillings are really generous, filled with HUGE and FRESH prawns!
Crispy Chicken Bites 盐酥鸡 $4.20
It’s somehow similar to those chicken bites that we usually eat from those taiwanese food stalls, seasoned with pepper and salt. It’s tasty and most importantly not oily.
Chaozhou Crystal Bun (Savoury) 潮州水晶包(咸) $3.20
My favourite, most probably because i’m more exposed to teochew cuisine as my mum and relatives are teochew. This is one of the common dishes that you’ll see in the teochew cuisine. This crytal bun consists of a chives and shrimp filling delicately wrapped within a thin flour ‘crystal’ skin which turns translucent when steamed. Really nice 😉
carefully handling my crystal bun…
Next, we are served with the 3 different Steamed Rice which they’ve added in to their new menu recently 🙂
Steamed Rice with Chinese Sausage & Waxed Meat
(with complimentary soup of the day)
原盅腊味双宝饭(附加每日例汤)
$7.90
Steamed Rice with Sesame Chicken
(with complimentary soup of the day)
原盅麻油滑鸡饭(附加每日例汤)
$7.90
Steamed Rice with Pork Spare Ribs
(with complimentary soup of the day)
原盅豆豉排骨饭 (附加每日例汤)
$7.90
All the 3 steamed rice are rather tasty. My preferred choice would be the Steamed Rice with Chinese Sausage & Waxed Meat and Steamed Rice with Pork Spare Ribs. I loved eating la chiong, also known as waxed meat, and the waxed meat served are neatly sliced, not too thick nor too thin. Just Nice!
As for the Pork Spare Ribs, it comes with slightly more gravy then the other two as i find the rice a little too dry, which i would suggest them to improve on to make the rice more fragrant with the gravy 😉
Afterall, they are all still acceptable for us and i’m sure you will like it too.
Oh! did i mention that all steamed rice comes with a complimentary soup of the day?! quite a good deal right?
and i must say that the soups are really VERY VERY TASTY!~ we couldn’t resist drinking it again and again! and most importantly, the soup are REFILLABLE! muahahaha!!!
SEE! how much we love the soup~~~
Other than steamed rice, they served fish porridge as well!
