Thousands of hopefuls across the region jumped for joy this week to hear that The Amazing Race Asia is set for a new season on AXN. Online applications are now open (AXN-Asia.com/TARA), but do you know what it takes to create an awesome audition video?
The celebrity host of The Amazing Race Asia, Allan Wu, knows all too well the winning formula aspiring teams need. The popular actor and all-round media personality hosted the first four seasons of the series, and returns to AXN fresh from hosting The Amazing Race China – Celebrity Edition.
“The Amazing Race Asia is an incredible experience for every contestant. It’s truly life changing as the race pushes you beyond your limits, making you realize that you are stronger, more powerful and more determined than you could ever have imagined. I have witnessed contestants transform themselves during a race, and no matter where they place, the contestants emerge as better versions of themselves. Get cracking
- Set the Scene
From indoor to outdoor, find a spot that reflects you and your teammate. Do you have, for example, a favourite café, park, beach, gym or living room sofa? - Dress for Comfort
Wear clothes that immediately speak volumes about your personality – without you having to say a word. - Equipment to shoot
Who says your 3-minute audition video needs to be Michael Bay movie-worthy? Just flick out your smartphone and start recording. - Audition with your pal
The Amazing Race Asia comprises teams of two, so grab your best pal and star in the video together.
It’s all about the team
- Start with your relationship
Co-workers, siblings, father/daughter, mother/son, married or just best friends – state your relationship to each other and some interesting insights about it - Hobbies and interests
Talk about yourselves and what inspires you. For a twist, share your partner’s likes and dislikes to see how much you know him/her. - Shared pastimes
Share your common interests and some interesting facts about them. Sports, video-gaming, shopping, skydiving, dining, fishing…the list goes on!

Friends in Singapore are also invited to head nex mall, on June 4 and 5 to create an audition video at The Amazing Race Asia themed booth. Each applicant who submits a video at nex will receive a limited edition AXN gift.
