With the recommendation from my friends and viewing pics of these cafe on instagram, I just have to add it into the list of cafe that i want to visit. It was really an impromptu decision, as my initial plan was to visit the cafe on a weekend afternoon, but since both my friend and I was thinking hard of a place for dinner, we decided to have it there.
Eight Cafe & Bar is located along Bukit Pasoh, on the same stretch of street where The New Majestic Hotel is located. Be prepared to get Wow-ed by the vintagey interior decor 😉
I started out with a salad as my appertizer, Mixed House $9.80, with Mesclun salad, cherry tomato, raisin, telegraphic cucumber, onion marmalade & house vinaigrette.
While my friend started off with a Soup of the day $7.80 instead.
Ordered Scallops Aglio Olio $20.80, linguine tossed with anchovies, chilli, garlic, & extra virgin olive oil. As the scallops was running low on stock, the chef added in tiger prawns for me. That’s really nice of him 🙂 and yes.. i love the aglio olio! Neither too dry nor too oily.
As for my friend, he ordered the House Special Crispy Brown Rice Risotto $26.80, with assorted fresh seafood and a creamy sauce made from zesty Asian herbs.
Rounded up our meal with Chocolate Lava Cake $7.80 as dessert. Freshly baked warm lava with vanilla ice cream and berries.
If you are visiting them this month (May 2014), enjoy a promotion for house wines during their dinning and brunch hours where 2 glasses at $20nett and 1 bottle at $50 nett. How not to miss this promotion right? So we ordered a glass for each of us to go with the food.
It’s really a nice place for a mini gathering with your friends to catch up with one another over nice food or just a drink. Am definitely heading back there soon for more 😉
