How do you love to spend your weekend afternoons? Some love to explore new places, catch a movie maybe? while some just want to “nua” at home and do nothing. Well If you are one that loves exploring quint new places, the Reading Room Cafe located at Bukit Pasoh Road should be the best place for you to visit!

Owned by the good looking American-Singaporean, Jake Folkoff, The Reading Room Cafe is artfully decorated with niche artifacts and emits a cosy vibe which made us just want to stay and spend all afternoon there. You can pick up a book, indulge in nice coffee or catch up on some work with the free wifi provided.

We got to try out a few of the mains as well as the coffee and I must agree that the coffee, made from beans sourced from Naples, Italy was smooth and flavourful.

For the mains, we ordered the Lobster Pasta in Creamy Tarragon, $28.80. Whole maine lobster tail, tomato, onion, garlic, tarragon and cream. The pasta was well cooked and the lobster was fresh. However, it would be good if the lobster can be served as a whole or without the shell as it took us while to remove the meat from the shells. Perhaps we are lousy in doing this haha!

We also ordered one of the chef recommended dishes from the Brunch menu, Norwegian Royale, $22.80, served with generous smoked salmon, french style scrambled eggs, french butter, arugula, on 2 french toasts. The toast was surprisingly soft yet not soggy. It’s good!

Other than the two mains, we also managed to try the Spicy Hot Wings, $8.80 for 6 pieces. These crispy hot wings are tossed in a special tangy, spicy hot sauce with roasted garlic. The taste reminds us of buffalo wings but not as spicy and less sourish. Perhaps we didn’t eat it while it’s hot, the wings wasn’t as crispy as we would love it to be.

If not for a movie that we’ve booked in advance, we would have loved to stay longer and try out the beautiful desserts offerings.
