Opened in 2011, W brings a modern, urban chic that is now a well known trade mark. W Taipei is conveniently located in the heart of the cosmopolitan district of Xinyi, and is only a 12 minutes walk away from Taipei 101 as well as the Taipei City Hall Metro. During our countdown trip in Taiwan, we managed to get ourselves the Spectacular Room which comes with a gorgeous view of the Taipei 101, blessed with it’s well known breathtaking views of fireworks during the new year countdown.
Located on the 10th floor, is the reception lobby, all-day dining restaurant as well as the outdoor pool deck. The dedicated lounge bar extends the lobby area providing an interesting space for guests to explore and interact with decoratively conversational pieces.
Do note that there are separate lifts required to reach your guest rooms. This segregates the flow of guest coming for drinks and food from those heading to their rooms.
W Taipei comes with a total of 405 rooms across 8 different room types, mainly the Wonderful Rooms, Fabulous Rooms, Spectacular Rooms, Cool Corner Rooms, Fantastic Suites, Marvelous Suites, Wow Suites and an Extreme WOW Suite which comes is two-storey high and comes with a dining room, fireplace and sauna.
Upon entering the vibrant Fabulous Room, the direct view of Taipei 101 WOWed us. It is fortunate to be assigned a great room despite the peak period of the new year count down.
Other than the wonderful view, the room is also equipped with playful furniture, flat-screen TV, BOSE sound systems and free WiFi. W provides guests with great brochures on possible things to do and places of interest, if all else fails just pick up the phone and use the “whatever whenever” feature and the friendly W staff will help you plan out your day.
W hotel is designed for the modern traveller in mind, with multi travel plugs and different USB ports to charge your many smart devices.
The minibar(chargeable) offered the standard soft drinks and surprisingly a medium-size bottles of Jack Daniels bourbon among other wines.
The hotel’s Munchie Box(chargeable) goes beyond the usual in-room snacks offering light sticks and umbrellas. Interestingly the turn down service at W offers complimentary popcorn snacks that are really tasty! we couldn’t resist and requested for more which they happily provided.
Breakfast is served from 6:30am to 10:30am at The Kitchen Table, W Taipei’s all-day dining restaurant, serving a buffet breakfast, à la carte dinner and a combination of the two at lunch.
Famous for the stylish vacation décor with bright yellow and white hues showcasing the colorful ceramic “Chrysalis” butterfly installation on the walls and the delectable dishes around the world. The kitchen table also offers an ultimate tropical escape. The interactive open kitchen is where all the creativity and love for food comes from.
As we visited during winter, the outdoor pool was closed and converted into a skating rink.
The FIT Gym is open 24 hours for all hotel guests, filled With a body-buffing array of the latest cardiovascular equipment and weight machines and an assortment of free weights.
If you are drained out from all the partying, head over to AWAY Spa for a post-party rub-down, or relax that post workout sore with aroma-infused steam rooms and saunas. Hotel guests can visit anytime with complimentary access to the sauna and steam room via your room key.
Overall, we were very pleased with the service standards and arrangements that the hotel had prepared for us, especially with the cake and wine for our anniversary celebration.
