When we first heard that Cirque Alice was making its Asia premiere right here in Singapore, we knew we couldn’t miss it. The idea of experiencing it through a cirque performance at Marina Bay Sands’ Sands Theatre was too tempting to resist.

We finally got to step into Wonderland—and what a spellbinding night it was.

First Impressions: An Enchanting Entrance

From the moment I entered the theatre, I could already feel that something magical was about to happen. The stage was bathed in soft, dreamlike lighting, and there was this sense of excitement buzzing through the crowd. When the lights dimmed and the first act began, we were instantly taken down the rabbit hole.

The show is the brainchild of Tim Lawson and Simon Painter, the creative duo behind global hits like Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple and The Illusionists. And it truly shows—the production is grand, imaginative, and filled with heart-stopping moments that kept us on the edge of our seats from start to finish.

A Story Told Through Movement and Magic

What we loved most about Cirque Alice was how it reimagined Alice’s journey—not through dialogue, but through breathtaking acrobatics, aerial artistry, contortion, puppetry, and dance. Each act represented a scene from the classic tale, from tumbling down the rabbit hole to the tea party madness with the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts.

The performers were phenomenal. One of my favourite acts involved an aerialist floating weightlessly above the stage as music swelled beneath her—a scene so mesmerizing it felt like time had stopped. The balance of comedy, grace, and danger was perfect. Add to that a modern, energetic soundtrack woven with familiar classical tunes, and the whole experience felt both nostalgic and fresh.

A Feast for the Senses

Visually, Cirque Alice is stunning. The costumes shimmered in jewel tones, the lighting transformed the space from dreamlike gardens to wild circus tents, and the set design was full of delightful surprises (keep an eye out for the on-stage seating—it puts you right in the middle of the show!). Every little detail, from the smallest prop to the largest backdrop, felt meticulously crafted to bring Wonderland to life.

Even the transitions between acts were beautifully designed, making the entire two-hour journey flow seamlessly.

Who Should Watch It

Cirque Alice is truly for everyone—whether you’re bringing your kids for a family outing, planning a fun date night, or enjoying a night out with friends. It’s whimsical enough for children, yet layered with artistry and creativity that adults will absolutely love. If you’re looking for a Singapore entertainment highlight in October 2025, this is it.
