Being stuck in the COVID-19 situation means no travelling anytime soon. A trip to Sentosa might just be the tropical getaway that you are looking for! The resort theme Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa looks and feels unlike any part of Singapore, we felt extremely relax strolling around the compound (Time for a Staycay?).

What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than to indulge in the Ultimate Sunday Champagne Brunch! we were warmly welcomed at the Kwee Zeen located at the ground floor of the resort near the main entrance to start our food adventure.

Seafood Bucket

We started with the ever-popular freshly shucked oysters, Poached Tiger Prawn, Boston Lobsters, Lemon Wedges and Tabasco. The tender sweet oysters hit the spot with a slight hint of saltness. The poached tiger prawns were deshelled in flash thanks to the freshness and the Boston lobster was delightful without being overly salty.

First Course

The Chili Crab Bun with Fresh Coriander was a handy way to enjoy crab while enjoying the lovely Champagne. I felt that the sauce would have benefitted from a little more heat but not everyone would take to spice. The Prawn Tandoori Prawn Skewer and Tandoori chicken showcased great flavour and were really tender, one of the better Tandoori dishes we had.

Melaka Heritage – Lemon Grass Scented Chicken Rice Ball, this was chicken rice at another level, the unassuming riceball was packed with flavour and the hidden tender pieces of chicken was flavorful, no chill and dark sauce required.

Beef – The beef rendang sliders had good flavour but lacked in the aromatics department. The sliced beef steak was juicy and pretty tender, no A5 wagyu but a hearty piece of meat that will satisfy that meat craving.

Second Course

Cheese and cured meat lovers would rejoice at the second course. All the cured meats had good flavour and getting a glass of red wine to go with the cheese would be the most recommended method to enjoy the classic Italian pairings.

Cheese Lovers Camembert, Blue Roquefort, Comte Cheese Dried Fruits, Walnuts, Almond Nut, Grapes, Crackers.

Charcuterie Platter – Serrano Jamon, Rosette Salami, Coppa Ham, Spicy Chorizo Cornichons, Pearl Onion, Marinated Olives, Sun Dried Tomatoes.

Smoked Salmon and Avo on bruschetta and a mini vegetable quiche tart.

Third Course

Sitting in the heat for too long, we felt that our sweets were also melting. In any case, sweet tooths rejoice! the deserts here are of high standards we loved the sinful dark chocolate tart. The chocolate ganache was orgasmic and brought a smile to our faces with each divine mouthful. To cut through the thick chocolate attack the lemon meringue tart. The condensed lemon flavour was paired nicely with just the right amount of sweetness from the meringue keeping it light.

We skipped the Waffles with Chocolate Sauce, Maple Syrup, Mix Fresh Berries as it was sitting out too long and lost any will to remain crispy. That being said we were also stuffed to the brim however that did not stop us from going after the Burnt Cheesecake which was smooth and velvety on the insight while having a nice charred flavour on the outside

Cocktails

If you are not drunk from non-stop Champagne yet try the Piña colada, a very tasty and addictive summer typical drink!

Sundays can’t get more idyllic than this – experience the resort life without having to travel far with a sumptuous spread complemented by great ambience with lush greenery and gentle breeze wafting from the South China Sea. The platters are thoughtfully put together and designed for easy eating so that you can spend more time in the company of friends and lovers while you waste away the day. We would recommend getting at least three people for the P E T I T option, the irony of the name “small” is that it is too much food for two people even if you are big eaters.

PS: remember to set your alarms for Monday morning to burn off all that excess calories.
