SINGAPORE – Local band MICappella has been making waves in the music scene over the past few years – winning praise from American contemporary a cappella guru Deke Sharon, who is also the vocal producer for the hit musical film franchise Pitch Perfect, had their 2017 medley of National Day Parade songs shared on social media by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and hailed as one of Asia’s leading vocal bands.
After three albums to date and multiple worldwide tours, home-grown band MICappella is set to perform their biggest live concert to date, on a 360-degree stage in Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands on 15 and 16 May. Comprising of Calin Wong, Juni Goh, Peter Huang, Eugene Yip, Goh Mingwei and Tay Kexin, the Singaporean sextet will also be giving audiences an exclusive preview of the first single from their upcoming Extended Play (EP).
The Love, MICappella concert has been long stalled due to COVID-19 with it initially slated to take place in 2020 with the release of this EP of the same title. But regardless of current times, the vocal band is eager to perform for their fans. As the concert title suggests, Love, MICappella is centered on the idea of love letters written to the different people in our lives, from best friends to new love to parents. MICappella’s concert, which includes original songs like 我要你的愛, You Are The One and Through Your Eyes, is bound to tug at the emotional heartstrings of all age groups.
While most of the songs in Love, MICappella are in Mandarin, audience members will be able to appreciate popular covers like Ice Cream Dynamite, which is a mash-up of tracks from BTS, Blackpink and Selena Gomez, and Fight Song, which is an ONENUHS tribute song to nurses, proving that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Presented by Asia Pacific’s leading presenter of live entertainment, which also has an exclusive management agreement to program Sands Theatre, Love, MICappella is Base Entertainment Asia’s next event in its series
of local productions encouraging local audiences to rediscover and support home-grown content, following the children’s mime-comedy Balloonacy and the ongoing Candlelight Concert series presented by Fever.
Tickets are now available via Marina Bay Sands Ticketing and SISTIC.
