With the same pronunciation as the word Hollywood, Hao Lai Wu is a family-style steamboat BBQ buffet restaurant located in Chinatown, offering unique steamboat in crystal pot and smokeless BBQ! We got the opportunity to try this out and here’s our review.
Hao Lai Wu Steamboat & BBQ is located just right beside the Tooth Relic Temple and within a few mins walk away from both Outram Park and Chinatown MRT station. With the attractive interior decor and neon signboard, it is not hard to miss this place when you pass by the area.
Serving a huge spread of varieties ranging from the all time favourite ingredients for steamboat and bbq such as vegetables, meat and seafood, they also have much premium items such as crabs, clams and scallops.
Other than cooking your own steamboat and BBQ, they also offer popular szechuan dishes which taste pretty good. However, we find that the dishes can be more spicy. Not to worry as the spicy level can be adjusted based on your personal preference, so do inform the staff when you placed your order.
The Boiled Chicken Coconut Soup is a signature dish that you must order when you dine there. The ingredients was put to boil with the fresh coconut juice and it taste really good!
For the eggs lover, you may request the friendly staff to cook omelette roll on your BBQ pan!
