Central Perk SG - F.R.I.E.N.D.S Cafe | Darren Bloggie

Fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S rejoice! Central Perk is now opened right here in Singapore. The living spaces of F.R.I.E.N.D.S are recreated right at this café. You could hang out at their slightly whimsical kitchen, visit Phoebe’s little corner or browse through Ross’s stuff.

A little background for non-fans, F.R.I.E.N.D.S is a highly successful America TV sitcom that ran from 1994-2004. The story revolves around 6 friends, Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, “Joey” Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Ross Geller who lives in the same apartment complex and face life and love in New York.

The main coffee/dining area is a replica of “Central Perk” Café, the actual café that is in the sitcom. The iconic orange sofa is the prime seat where one can enjoy replays of F.R.I.E.N.D.S episodes.

The other favour photo spot is the sofa area with the “Central Perk” glass window.

Food and Beverages

During our visit, we got to try Joey’s fisherman’s stew(38SGD) The seafood was fresh and well cooked, the tomato based broth was hearty and went well with the bread.

We also ordered Ahh Unagi(36SGD) a fusion of Japanese elements with a squid ink risotto.

Central Perk offers Singapore’s first Edible Helium Balloon(16SGD) available in strawberry, banana, and blueberry. We had a lot of fun inhaling the helium and getting really high pitched voices.

The helium balloon comes with a dish of yogurt ice-cream sprinkled with pop-rocks and a soft moist cake.

The coffee at Central Perk is named after the 6 characters from the sitcom. We loved the aromatic and earthy flavours of “Phoebe” and “Chandler” which were just some of the names given to the unique blend. At $8 each for a latte and cappuccino, you get a really huge cup(Thumbs up!) that takes a while to finish.

In closing, the Central Perk Café offers fans an interesting space to connect with familiar backdrops and elements from F.R.I.E.N.D.S while providing excellent coffee and beverages. The open spaces, natural lighting, and comfortable furniture make it a perfect space for spending a nice afternoon.
