If you a fan of matcha, you would have heard of 108 Matcha Saro, a famous matcha joint in Hokkaido that serves premium matcha dessert. Now, without having to fly all the way to Hokkaido for this, you can get them right here in Singapore at their first Southeast Asia outlet at Suntec City.
Choose from a range of premium match desserts, such as soft serve, warabi mochi, and obanyaki, all made with their own Uji matcha powder which comes from tea leaves of the highest grade.
The most popular item on the menu is their Matcha Soft Parfait Deluxe ($8.50), with match and brown sugar jellies as the base, topped with white mochi, red bean, and soybean warabi mochi. However, we did not order the signature but decided to go with the soft serve, especially after a heavy meal.
There are 3 varieties of soft-serve that you can choose from. Matcha, Hojicha, or a mix of both. So as to get a taste of both, we ordered the Hokkaido Soft Serve Mix. It was creamy but a little sweet for us. As for the obanyaki, which is the stuffed pancake, we order the one with red bean in it. In general, it’s not a bad dessert, and a little pricey, but I guess this is the best you can get for a taste of Japan, especially with authentic ingredients used from Hokkaido.
