Taiwanese Bubble Tea Chain JLD Dragon (吉龙糖) Launches 3 Outlets in Singapore

Taiwan’s highly anticipated Bubble Tea Chain JLD Dragon (吉龙糖) will officially launch in Singapore on Thursday, 6 February 2020 at Waterway Point and The Star Vista. This launch will be followed by the opening of a third outlet at Centrepoint Orchard in April 2020.

Named after the Chinese auspicious dragon symbol, the culture of tea drinking and Taiwan’s traditional sugar production, JLD Dragon is the only industry player that utilises 1646 Traditional Okinawa Brown Sugar, otherwise known as Kokuto. On the decision to incorporate this novel ingredient, Sophia Lai, spokesperson of JLD Dragon says, “Kokuto delivers a complex, yet sweet caramel flavour as a result of how it’s made. Produced by Okinawans
since the 17th century, the process requires slowly cooking down pure sugarcane juice.

Touted as the world’s healthiest sugar, Kokuto is an all-natural product that contains high levels of calcium, iron, and vitamin B.” Putting a twist on the conventional method of combining ready-made brown sugar syrup with pearls, JLD Dragon caramelises its brown sugar in-house, transforming it from finely milled grains to thick, golden nectar where pearls are then infused, slow cooked and glazed, resulting in chewy, aromatic pearl-fection. Specially selected premium tea leaves and high quality fresh milk are also used in the crafting of all beverages to complement the deep, rich flavour of the brown sugar.

What’s bubbling?

Founded in May 2018 in Taiwan, JLD Dragon’s philosophy of using only the finest ingredients has contributed to its global success, and the brand has since expanded into 11 outlets across Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines and China.

The menu’s mainstay, Brown Sugar Milk with Tapioca Boba ($5.30), is crafted in a precise “golden ratio” and topped with luscious whipped cream and crème fraiche so that every sip delivers a perfect proportion of brown-sugar-coated warm pearls to fresh creamy milk. Other signatures include the Alishan Green Tea Milk Foam ($5.90) and Green Tea with Yakult ($5.90).

JLD Dragon is open from 11am to 10pm daily and is located at Waterway Point, #B1-43, 83 Punggol Central, Singapore 828761 and The Star Vista, 1 Vista Exchange Green, #B1-37D Singapore 138617.
