During our visit to Taichung, we booked a driver to bring us on a day trip to these 5 places that are definitely worth visiting in Taichung!
Rainbow Village 彩虹眷村

Rainbow Village was first launched by “Rainbow Grandpa”, Yong-Fu Huang: a long-time resident trying to keep the memory of the community by literally painting a rainbow fairyland. He unleashed his creativity and created this one-and-only village filled with paintings that are impressive and full of humanity which attracts a huge crowd of tourists to come to visit.







Summit Resort 新社古堡庄园

Summit Resort 新社古堡庄园, a unique castle in European style with a large garden, lake, and waterfall is situated high up in the mountains in Xinshe. Once you arrive at this place, you might mistake yourself in Europe! Definitely, a spot that you need to visit to get some Instagrammable shots. One interesting fact about this place is that no one seems to know who built the castle or why it was built, and it was often referred as Taichung biggest secret garden.








Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林
Zhongxing Street, Xinshe District,

Lavender Cottage is one of the coziest and relaxing little places that you can find in Taichung. There’s also an interesting story behind the birth of Lavender Cottage. Two herb-loving ladies who love to draw and record their life and emotions in music as they traveled, got tired after working for years in the cities. So, they decided to quit their jobs and start new lives as farmers! They bought a hill in a middle of nowhere and started growing lavender. Eventually, their dream of a hillside coffee shop surrounded by lavender was realized and thus, Lavender Cottage was born.
There’s also a little market selling lavender products, such as soap and bath power, are you can also buy and send a postcard to someone special here too!






Carton King Creativity Park 紙箱王創意主題園區

Other than branches in Cingjing and Jiji, Carton King Creativity Park is originated from Taichung City. There is a themed restaurant located inside the park, filled with furnishings, decorations, and crockery all made of corrugated cardboard. Take a stroll outside the garden after your meal and be attracted to windmill, sheep and Eiffel Tower made of cardboard too!







Xinshe Sea of Flowers 新社花海
No. 30, Xiexing Street, Xinshe District,

Every late November to early December, a two to four-week long flower exhibition will be held here which attracts thousands of locals and tourists alike to visit. With 60 hectares of flowers in vivid colours to explore, everywhere is a perfect photo spot for you. Other than thematic floral display, there is also an educational exhibition center for visitors to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s agriculture and flower industries.
