Looks like Katong is getting more and more vibrant nowadays with cafes, pubs, massage parlour, shopping malls and hotel. One of the cafe that caught my attention got to be Carvers & Co. They served different menus on weekdays and weekends for both lunch and dinner. So there’s something different whenever you visit the cafe on different days ;) Menus are pasted onto old books which is a good way to recycle them. Deep fried sweet potato chips which can get so addictive… Anchovy Pasta Beer battered fish and chips Dark chocolate tart served with ginger nut and fresh cream which I think is really good ;) Not forgetting to order a cup of latte brewed with beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters. Or you can choose to grab a bottle of beer to go with the roast meats, their signatures. Carvers & Co is a cosy-bistro cafe, with the intention of encouraging parties and groups of people to connect over hearty meals and comfort food. So probably you might want to try this place for your next …
Frankel Ave? Where is it at? That’s the first question that I asked my friend when he told me about visiting this cafe at Frankel Ave. It’s actually located at Siglap and it’s accessible by bus. So here we are at Dutch Colony Coffee Co. The moment i step into the cafe, other than going WOW~ the other thing that came across my mind was it looks a little similar to Wimbly Lu, with the extension at the back covered with a glass rooftop with daylight lighting. Definitely a photographer favourite area as daylight lightings makes your photo looks great :) Self service and place your order at the counter. Free flow of ice water available. We ordered a red velvet cheesecake and Raspberry White Chocolate Bundt with 2 cups of latte. Actually i quite like this red velvet cheesecake but my friend don’t really like it as he prefer his. which i think is not bad too lah~ haha! They do conduct workshops that you can register for in the Cafe too! In general, i …

In this volume of the travel photobook, you will get to see the impressive architecture of the University of Sydney, market at the Market City, Taronga Zoo and a nice cafe found in there.
Artichoke is tucked away in the courtyard of Sculpture Square off Middle Road, a small little cafe and bar which is perfect for a chill-lax session with your friends over food and drinks (beer and alcoholic).
Not long ago, my friends decided to bring me out for dinner as I was kinda down and they brought me to this restaurant hidden in a corner at the newly opened Orchardgateway, Supply & Demand. From what my friend to me, it’s not easy to get a seat there as it’s always full and you need to make reservations online. If not, be prepared to queue up to more than an hour for a seat. We’re lucky as we didn’t wait for long, approx 20 mins on that day, though my friend made a booking online and only to know that he booked the wrong date LOL!
Brand new 502-room hotel at Orchardgateway showcases revolutionary ‘Jen’ hotel hospitality concept Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore, the first of a new ‘Jenre’ of fresh, friendly and fuss-free mid-range hotels by Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd, opened its doors to the public in Singapore. The opening is the first in a major initiative to launch the Hotel Jen brand in nine key gateway cities across Asia Pacific by March 2015.
*Ps just in case you are wondering, yes the post is about my Hong Kong & Macau trip in Feb this year :P After 3 nights in Hong Kong, we moved on to Macau, the City of Dream! This is my first time to Macau and I have to say that I’m really looking forward to it. We bought the ferry tickets from Hong Kong to Macau at HKD160.00.
A few weeks ago, when my friends and I drove past Upper Paya Lebar Road, I caught sight of a yellow signboard with the words “Three Years in a Balloon” outside a shophouse. Being a sucker for cafes, I was excited and googled about it. I found out that it was a newly opened café, operated by the same people behind Wimbly Lu. Three Years in a Balloon specialises mainly in desserts such as cakes, waffles and ice cream. I also found out that it was only open on weekdays until 7.30pm. I don’t get home before 10pm usually (the café was near my home) so there was no way I could make it after work. Still, the hipster in me wanted to try the café – try it before everyone knows about it! – so I made up my mind to find a free afternoon to visit it. So here I am!
I guess this cafe is one of the most secretive cafe that i’ve ever know. Just like what my title says, many will seek but not all shall find. Phew~ we are the lucky ones to find it :) It’s located along Niven Road but you will not be able to see any store front nor a big sign saying CAFE HERE. Here’s a hint to you, there’s this blue door located along this stretch where you will need to knock on it. Locating this door isn’t hard but getting into this blue door, you might need some luck. If someone opens the door for you, you’re lucky today. If not, then sorry, you will have to come back again another day as seats in there are really limited.

Especially our hair which tends to get oily easily. Not to worry, here’s something that I would like to share with you which I’m sure it’ll benefit you! Before i proceed to tell you what is it going to be, let’s go on a mini tour around the salon! It’s really very nicely decorated and I personally quite like it. Especially the super wider mirror with lights which shout “best lighting for selfie” ! lol~

Samsung Dream Exchange Campaign After my first trip outside a country in Asia and spending 9 Days 8 Nights in both Sydney and Melbourne, I’m finally publishing my very first travel photo e-book on darrenbloggie.com. All these would not have been possible without my Samsung NX3000 as my wonderful travel companion. Thanks Samsung for helping me to make everlasting memories. Throughout the trip, the Samsung NX3000 never failed to surprise me with the wonders it’s able to create! Not only did the photo quality turn out to be superb (as good as a DSLR camera), colors were vibrant, shutter speed was fast enough to capture real sharp images of moving objects, and most importantly, it performed better than what I would have expected under low light conditions! As there are simply too many photos that I’ve taken which I would like to share with you, I’m breaking them up into different volumes :) Presenting to you, VOLUME 01 : MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THESE, Darrenbloggie’s Travel Photobook Collaboration with Samsung
Guest Post by Ally Chua I had a rare afternoon off work, so I met up with my friends to check out Anthesis, a bakery / café in Robertson Quay that I had wanted to visit for quite some time. Anthesis exterior
It’s Cafe hopping time and this time round, we visited Ronin Cafe, located along Hong Kong Street, directly opposite Central. You might not be able to notice it as there isn’t any signages that says Ronin Cafe but only the unit no. I love the ambience of the cafe. Very minimalistic and the use of rustic light bulbs, vintage-y furniture like old school cinema chairs and benches with fresh flowers placed on some of the tables.
