Singapore River Festival 2016 will commence from 4th to 5th November with the them “River Connections”, celebrating culture, lifestyle and history of the Singapore River, connecting our past to the present, and the Singapore River to the community.
A tightrope will be extended across the Singapore River for the first time ever for the opening act, Crossings, produced by French acrobatic theatre production, Underclouds Cie and local entertainment producer, Muse Inc. Crossings blends tightrope acrobatics, dazzling choreography, music effects and multimedia projections, exploring the extraordinary theme of connections in all our ordinary lives.
A variety of perfomances and activities will be hosted along the river, across Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay. Get ready to immerse in the spirit by partying to the tunes of resident DJ at the Silent Disco while enjoying the multi-sensory acrobatic acts at the Riverside Carnival.
Robertson Quay will also turns into an open-air cinema and a mass workout area with the Quayside Cinema where popular local film, “7 Letters” will be screened and energetic can work out at fitness workshops such as Kids Yoga, Barre Bootcamp and Pound Workshop.
The festival also sees the return of Singapore River (SR) Signatures, an award recognising some of the finest dishes along the River. This year, the 21 winning dishes were handpicked by four local celebrity chefs, Anthony Yeoh, Bjorn Shen, Cheryl Koh and Nixon Low. Restaurants serving up these delectable dishes will be dishing out promotions in celebration of the revelry happening along the River.
