Flying can be quite an awesome experience, especially for first timers. But as more experienced fliers would tell you, it can also be quite uncomfortable. The longer the flight, the more time you have to spend confined to your seat, at the mercy of the civility of strangers and the selection of the in-flight entertainment system.
So if you’re going to be stuck to your seat, you might as well make it a comfortable one. Any airline worth its salt knows that (personal) space, comfort, privacy and quality service makes a world of difference, hence why people who can afford them tend to be willing to fork out the extra cheese just to be in First Class or Business Class. The First Class, Business Class and Economy Class are all available through Traveloka. Also, just a friendly tip, you can discover sweet MAS online booking deals via Traveloka as well.
CHECKING IN TO LUXURIOUS EXPERIENCES
For Malaysia Airlines, the premium experience begins from the moment you check in for your flight. One of the perks that come together with the price you’re paying is expediency and exclusivity. You won’t have to get in line for what at times could be a long queue to sort out your flight details and luggage. You’ll get to enjoy a separate check-in counter which further enhances that sense of exclusivity and gets you through in just a few quick minutes.
A CLUB OF ITS OWN
You then make your way from the main airport to the terminal via intra airport train. While waiting for the flight to begin boarding, you can enjoy full access to the VIP lounge. Only First class and Business class ticket holders get to enjoy this so you still get that sense of exclusivity and privacy, away from the chaotic masses flocking the terminal. Luxurious comfort, next level food and beverages, as well as excellent service is a privilege granted by the lounge. It’s frankly a hint of what you can expect for whence you board.
The lounge is located on the upper floor, sort of strategically semi-hidden behind the intra train dock; and it consists of a cozy space with a living room-esque ambiance for you to relax, eat, or whatever else you feel like doing to kill time. The food serves up a variety of hot and cold dishes with a decent range of drinks.
BOARDING PRIVILEGES
One of the better perks of the two classes are prioritised boarding, meaning First Class and Business Class fliers get to board and nestled in first before the rest of the passengers. This means that once more you get spared the long queues, but then again you’ll be boarding the place via a private aero bridge anyway.
First Class and Business Class seats are usually located away from the engines, which presumably where most of the noise would come from whilst travelling. On the Airbus A380, you’d be located on the upper decks, separated from the economy class. Babies and children are already automatically not allowed in First Class and Business Class so there’s that additional benefit of serenity, so to speak.
A SOARING LUXURY
The crew would already have been made informed of who you are, especially if there aren’t many people in the upper classes. Once you reach the plane, you’d be greeted by name without them even checking your documents, which is always a classy touch. Your seats are significantly more spacious and comfortable. There are no overhead compartments which means there’s a lot of headroom, making quite the difference, especially on long flights.
You’re then given a goodie bag with all the perks. A set of MAS pajamas, slippers, and cool set of toiletries. The toiletries would usually consist of an oral hygiene kit (that’s toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash), eye covers, a pair of socks and an assortment of creams. It’s usually by premium brands such as Bulgari or Porsche, depending on where and when MAS is sourcing it from.
You’re also given a pair of solid headphones for you to pleasantly enjoy your in-flight entertainment. Right before your flight, you’d be offered some snacks of your choice and a hot towel.
The rest of the flight is as what you would expect, and as what most people who fly in First Class and Business Class would say “I wish the flight was just a little bit longer”.
