The original M1300 was released as a high technology running shoe in 1985 and was praised by runners at the time for its premium cushioning, unique grey colour and authentic silhouette. Some even described its cushioning as “the shoe version of a Rolls-Royce” and others expressed that wearing the M1300 was “like walking on a cloud”. Since then, it became the representative running shoe for New Balance and the birth of M1300 started the premium 1000 series of running shoes. This year, New Balance is proud to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the M1300 and is glad to introduce the 2015 version of the original M1300.
The M1300 incorporates ENCAP technology into the midsole to ensure maximum cushioning and stability. It had impressed runners and celebrities with its functionality and made great impact in the market in 1985, with a high retail price of USD$130. With its combination of high quality nubuck leather and mesh material, people from the fashion scene in Japan started to wear the M1300 as a fashion sneaker. They were also attracted to its story of being “made in the USA” and hand-made by skilled craftsmen in Boston, where the New Balance brand was born. Its story never fades and is still loved by customers 30 years on.
In response to the demand from all sneaker fans, New Balance has reissued the original M1300 model in 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010 and now the 5th reissued model of M1300 in 2015. Like the reissued model in 2010, the 2015 version uses the same Vibram outsole that appeared in the original M1300. The materials used in the upper, colour combination, and other stitch work details are also perfectly recreated. A kids model of this iconic M1300 is also released.
The M1300JP2 is now available at Limited Edt Vault@313 & Leftfoot Entrepôt The Cathay, at a retail price of $399.
