Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s annual walkathon Bare Your Sole returns for its seventh year on Saturday, 30 May 2015, this time at Sentosa Island, Palawan Beach from 8am to 12pm, and registration is now open.
Bare Your Sole aims to raise awareness for the large number of people living in poverty without the ability afford basic amenities, such as shelter or footwear. Funds raised from the 2km and 4km barefoot charity walkathon supports Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s Project HomeWorks programme, which is a local initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and the physically challenged living in one-room flats in Singapore.
A total of over $300,000 was raised from last year’s edition of Bare Your Sole, where more than 5,000 participants turned up to show their support.
Aside from the walkathon, there will be a wide range of activities such as a high elements course with flying fox and rock-climbing wall, a Habitat Village and a Kids’ Corner, as well as entertaining martial arts demonstrations and musical performances, promising to be a fun-filled family event for all ages. Participants can also look forward to an array of tasty food and beverage options, which are sure to whet taste buds.
