Happening from now to 23 October 2016, the National Arts Council will be presenting the second edition of Got to Move, which offers over 200 new, exciting and interactive activities for the public to discover, appreciate and experience dance. With wider programming that features more large-scale events this year in hope to reach out to a wider audience and show them how dance can positively impact their lives.
Here’s 4 Fun Ways to Embrace Dance at the variety of exciting events taking place during this year’s Got to Move:
A Slice in Time
Date: 7-23 October –Dance Photography Exhibition and Contest
Location: Stamford Arts Centre
Capturing the ephemeral art of dance is taking a Slice in Time. This exhibition offers an intimate look at dance performance photographs and photographic collaborations, by established dance photographers Robin Chee, Matthew Johnson, Tan Ngiap Heng, and Bernie Ng. Experience the range of dance photography in Singapore, take a dance photography workshop or listen to how these photographers create. Budding dance photographers can even participate in a contest with attractive prizes.
Urban 16
22-23 October: 10 am-9 pm
Suntec City Mall West Atrium
Urban16 aims to introduce the growing urban dance community and ecosystem to the general public. Through the auditions, performances, invitation battles and exhibits, the urban dance community hopes to increase awareness of how dance can bring people together and forward, with a groove.
GTM @ Tanjong Goodman
22 October: 12 pm-8pm
Goodman Arts Centre
Be treated to an array of free activities of various dance genres, from classes and workshops, to film screenings and performances. There will be something for everyone of all ages. Participating groups include Frontier Danceland, T.H.E. Dance Company, RAW Moves, Sri Wana, Apsaras Arts, Era Dance Theatre and Dance Nucleaus. This open house is held in conjuction with the Tanjong Goodman Weekend Market.
Unlock and Roll
23 October: 11 am-3 pm
Bedok Town Square
This interactive event hopes to get people moving in a fun and engaging way. Participants will be encouraged to rope in more of their friends in order to unlock more booths and receive more freebies. The thrill of challenges and completing missions aims to foster the community spirit, especially with the event held in the heartlands.
