Did you know that there is a BRAND new attraction at Gardens by the Bay and it’s prickly interesting!
The Sun Pavilion houses over 1,000 desert plants with more than 100 different species and varieties. This 800-square-meter cactus garden is Gardens by the Bay latest addition as well as one of the largest cacti and succulent collections in Southeast Asia.
Visitors can marvel at cacti and succulents from semi-arid regions such as Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar. Visitors will also be able to spot the amazing Mexican columnar cacti, which you get to see them in those olden-day cowboy film.
The Sun Pavilion also houses smaller succulents with eye-catching details such as the Brazilian species of Turk’s Cap, where it starts as a green, spiny ball which matured into a flower at the top, resembling a cap or a hat.
Brain cactus is also one of the smaller succulents that you can find at The Sun Pavilion. It’s a special horticultural cultivar that have lost their ability to grow in length, growing sideways instead. Interesting isn’t it?
