Torikizoku VivoCity Review: Is Singapore’s $3.90 Yakitori Chain Worth the Hype?

If you’ve been searching for affordable yakitori in Singapore, Torikizoku VivoCity might just be the answer. Japan’s #1 yakitori chain — with over 600 outlets back home — has finally opened its doors in Singapore, and its biggest selling point isn’t just the food. It’s the price.

A Flat $3.90++ Menu — Yes, Really

Here’s what makes Torikizoku Singapore stand out in a city where a night out can quietly drain your wallet: almost everything on the menu, food and non-alcoholic drinks included, is priced at a flat $3.90++. No tiered pricing, no “market price” surprises, no creeping bill at the end of the night. For a Japanese izakaya experience, that’s a rare find.

This VivoCity outlet is also Torikizoku’s largest outlet in the world, with 174 seats spread across indoor and al fresco seating — so even at peak hours, there’s a real chance you won’t be turned away.

What to Order (Without Blowing the Budget)

The standout has to be the KIZOKUYAKI skewers — jumbo-sized yakitori grilled to order, glazed in a tare sauce recipe that’s stayed unchanged for over 40 years. It’s smoky, slightly sweet, and exactly what you want charred and skewered.

Beyond the classic skewers, the chicken thigh yakitori is worth flagging as a personal favourite — simple, juicy, and proof that you don’t need a fancy price tag for good grilling. If you’re after something heartier, the Chicken Kamameshi (claypot rice), cooked table-side, rounds out the meal nicely without pushing your bill much higher.

Do the math: at $3.90++ per item, two people can easily share a spread of six to eight skewers plus rice for well under $50 — a genuine rarity for Japanese dining in Singapore.

The Vibe: Casual, Buzzy, No-Frills

Torikizoku leans fully into classic izakaya energy — lively, unpretentious, and built for sharing plates over drinks. It’s less “special occasion dinner” and more “let’s just grab skewers after work,” which is exactly the gap it fills. You’ll also likely be greeted by Toriki, the brand’s mascot, doing the rounds — a small, fun touch that adds to the first-visit novelty.

Is It Worth Visiting?

For budget-conscious yakitori lovers in Singapore, Torikizoku VivoCity earns its hype. The flat pricing removes the usual anxiety of ordering “too much” at a Japanese grill spot, the portions are generous for the price, and the location — VivoCity, right by Harbourfront — makes it an easy addition to a mall dinner or post-Sentosa trip.

If you’re planning a visit, go hungry, order in rounds, and don’t skip the claypot rice.
