TEN Sushi is a casual sushi restaurant by Marusaya specialising in premium sushi. The head Chef Hirai, abides by the mind of “Dashi Master Marusaya” which is known for serving traditional Japanese cuisine.
We started dinner with Oyster from Sakoshi Bay, Hyogo. The Fresh Oysters(S$28++ for 6 pieces, S$49++ for 12 pieces) came with either ikura or tobiko. Each fresh morsel of oyster packed a burst of freshness and the fish roe enhanced the umami flavour. We would skip the tabasco any day.
The Unagi Eel Roll (S$18++ for 4 pieces, S$32++ for 8 pieces) was tender and sat on top of nicely vinegar-ed rice. We appreciated the the Unagi has just the right contrast of sauce to balance out the rice.
The Deluxe Ten Assorted Sashimi Deluxe(S$58++) comprises of maguro (tuna), sake (salmon), hotate (scallop), ika (squid), amaebi (sweet prawns) and seasonal fish (2 kinds). Each piece was sliced and plated with care and looked like a piece of art. Each piece of Sashimi was fresh and tender, leaving you craving for more.
Another crowd favorite is the Aburi Salmon Avocado Roll(S$20 for 8 pieces) each avocado roll layered with seared salmon slices topped with mayo, teriyaki sauce, onion, spring onion and flying fish roe.
If you can’t decide on what to eat consider the Omakase Sushi (12 piece roll sushi at S$49++)
If presentation is important because you are hosting guests then get the Sushi box(12 pieces at S$49++ |24 pieces S$98++) each box come with uni, toro, hotate, kanpachi/hamachi, squid, octopus, salmon, tuna, ebi and unagi and negitoro maki. There is bound to be something for every seafood lover.
My favorite of the night went to the A4 Wagyu Aburi Sushi($18 for 2 pieces, $44 for 5 pieces) each piece of seared then lightly glazed. The beef was tender and the fat from the Wagyu enveloped entire mouth with each chew.
I personally like Miso soup to go with my sushi as it warms the stomach, consider the Dashi Miso Soup(S$4++) that had a mild sweetness without being overly salty.
