W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is an oasis of modern luxury for business travellers, globetrotters and staycationers. For locals like us looking for a staycation away from the city, W Singapore is a good recommendation as it is located amidst the lush greenery and lively coastal setting of Sentosa. If you are driving or taking a grab into the island, all you need to do is to flash your booking confirmation at the island gantry to enjoy free admission into the island. Alternatively, you can also hop onto the free shuttle bus from Vivocity to the hotel too.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the hotel, you will be greeted by the signature W logo, which is also a popular photo spot among hotel guests. Step through the doors and you will arrive at a magical rainforest, inspired by local elements such as the orchid flower, the peacock and lalang fields. Explore around the hotel and you will see quirky art pieces by renowned artists, such as Andy Warhol.
We had a smooth check-in process and our Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status was also well acknowledged at the counter. Some of the benefits that you get to enjoy as a Platinum member are complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, as well as late check-out at 4:00 pm.
Fabulous King Room
The room assigned to us was the Fabulous King Guest Room with 1 King bed. The room also comes with a balcony which offers a panoramic view of the WET Pool and the South China Sea. Measuring at 40sqm, the room can fit up to a maximum of 3 occupancies with the option of rollaway bed at $90 per night. The Signature W bed was incredible and we had a really good rest during our stay.
Intricate details such as branch-like golden doorknobs, butterfly pendant light, custom orchid pattern carpeting and abstract floral wall motifs, illuminated by four tones of mood lighting are some of the interesting characteristics of the rooms.
As this was meant to be a surprise birthday staycation, I’m impressed and happy with the arrangement made by the hotel. Balloons, birthday card and also an interesting plate of edible desserts were placed in the room upon our arrival.
WET® Pool
One of the main features of W Singapore is the WET® Pool. It is one of Singapore’s largest resort outdoor pool and one interesting feature of the pool is the underwater speakers that emanate a surreal series of sonic waves as you swim across the sprawling pool.
Huge floats are available in the pool where you can relax on it, or enjoy the afternoon on a canopied sun lounger with views of the South China Sea. You can also enjoy some refreshing cocktails or finger food by the pool at the WET® Bar. After dark, the deck will be illuminated in gorgeous hues that give the pool a magical glow.
WET® Pool is available for all in-house guest round the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Non-hotel guests can also access the pool at a fee of $45++ from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Thursday only.
Spa & Fitness
Some of the facilities, such as the sauna, steam room, vitality pool in the AWAY® Spa are available for hotel guests to use as well. Approach the friendly staff at the AWAY® Spa counter to register and exchange for a locker key so you can store your personal belongings before using the facilities.
If hitting the gym is something you need to do while on holiday, you will be happy to know that the gym, FIT, at W Singapore is open 24 hours daily. This 235sqm state-of-the-art gym provides a panoramic garden view with top-of-the-line Technogym cardio machines, weight machines, yoga mats, punching bag and more, there is no reason for you to skip your daily gym routine here. One-on-one training and yoga classes are also available for hotel guest to register too.
Dining
There are a few dining options available at W Singapore. Guests looking to have an evening cocktail can visit the WOOBAR which serves cocktails crafted with herbs from the gardens, champagnes, premium spirits and wines from around the world.
Prefer something international? Head down to the kitchen table to sample a remix of contemporary Indian, Chinese, Japanese and international flavours, including live cooking stations and wood-fired pizza. This is also where you will be having your daily breakfast at too. During our stay, other than breakfast, we also managed to try out the lunch buffet too.
In general, our stay was a pleasant one and we felt rejuvenated though it was just a one night stay. If you are looking for a staycation away from the city, we would recommend to try out W Singapore Sentosa Cove, though we felt that it is more suitable for couples than families with kids.
