Having visited Bali for a few times, I’ve never tried the famous dish in Bali that all my friends told me not to miss. During my trip to Bali this year, I finally got to try it and here’s my review about this dish that most tourist go ga ga over.
I didn’t really do any research beforehand on which is the best restaurant to go for Babi Guling, so we just randomly passed by this restaurant that served Babi Guling in Ubud and with a pretty decent crowd in there, we decided to try this out.
There’s actually quite a few option to choose from but to try the most common and authentic Babi Guling, we ordered the set which basically comes with everything. Before that, some ice cold coconut to relieve the heat.
The avocado is so good that I decided to order one for myself as well.
It didn’t take long for our food to be served. The first impression I had was, Nasi Padang. It looks exceptionally delicious and I can’t wait to start!
Personally, it didn’t really make me go WOW and the taste is quite different from what I expected it to be. I expected it to be much more flavourful and fragrant like those stewed meat or Lor Bak, those you get to eat in Bangkok. However, I like the sides and the chilli more.
Perhaps there are other better Babi Guling out there which I missed it, but if you are visiting Bali, you may consider trying them out and let me know which restaurants served the yummiest Babi Guling and I shall give it a second chance when I’m there the next time. Hahaha~
