[Hotel Review] Wanderlust Hotel at Little India

Wanderlust Hotel located in Little India, an old settlement where Indian immigrants onced reared cattle and livestock is the third Unlisted Collection: property in Singapore, also a member of the Design Hotel under the Starwood Hotel Group. The four storey high boutique hotel has a total of 29 rooms, featuring some interesting works from award-winning Singapore design agencies Asylum, :Phunk Studio and fFurious. This is also the first hotel project for each design agency as well.

Begin your wanderlust journey from the lobby, designer by Chris Lee and Cara Ang of Asylum: ‘Industrial Glam’, a juxtaposition of the hotel’s Little India setting and contemporary design. Check out the nostalgic barber seats and table soccer.

Check-in process was fast and it didn’t took us long to get registered and assigned a room. There is a total of 8 Mono Rooms on level 3 designed by DP Architects named “Is It Just Black or White?”. Walk along the black corridor lit by the glow of neon lights and you will see yourself stepping into one of the rooms clad in contrasting white.

Using paper Origami as the inspiration of the room design, sharp undulating ceilings representing paper folds with special lighting systems that you can switch between four colours to ‘paint’ your room up.

Although the design is simple, the room is actually very spacious and it comes with a huge bathroom, which we find it a waste to not have a bathtub in it.

Although it’s a boutique hotel, it comes with a mini garden and a mini rainbow jacuzzi pool where you can soak yourself in. However, we spotted some dead leaves floating on the water, we though it might not be a good idea to soak ourselves in it. So, we soak our feet instead while we enjoy the complimentary drinks from the minibar 🙂

Breakfast was served at Cocotte, located on the ground level of Wanderlust, which provides unpretentious rustic French cuisine in a casual and comfortable setting. To be honest, I really love the decor and ambience but I think the staff need to be more attentive. It took us quite some time to get someone to have our order taken for breakfast.
