Mooncake season is here again, and this year I'm putting Carlton Hotel Singapore's Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant on my radar. Their 2026 collection is themed "The Warmth of Handcrafted Heritage," and true to the name, everything is made entirely in-house — no outsourced production line here. The baked mooncakes come from Wah Lok's own kitchen under Executive Chef Su Man On, while the hotel's pastry team handles the snow skin creations.
The collection is available from 20 July to 25 September 2026, so there's a fairly generous window to plan your gifting or your own indulgence. You can order online at celebrations.carltonhotel.sg, or swing by the Festive Booth in the hotel lobby if you'd rather see the boxes in person before deciding.
What's new this year
There are three new additions worth knowing about. On the baked side, the Tangerine Peel White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk ($98 for 4 pieces) is the standout — it takes the classic white lotus paste and infuses it with tangerine peel for a bit of citrus lift, which sounds like a nice way to cut through the richness that baked mooncakes are known for.
On the snow skin front, two debuts caught my eye: the Mini Hong Kong Milk Tea Snow Skin ($90 for 8 pieces), which draws inspiration from the hotel's own Café Mosaic Hong Kong buffet, and the Mini Baileys Cheesecake Snow Skin ($90 for 8 pieces), which blends Baileys with a cheesecake filling for something more dessert-forward than traditional. If durian is more your thing, the returning Mini Mao Shan Wang Durian Snow Skin ($98 for 8 pieces) is still there and remains one of their most popular picks.
The classics are still around
For anyone who prefers to stick with tradition, the White Lotus Paste with Double Yolk ($98 for 4 pieces) is Wah Lok's signature and still headlines the baked lineup, alongside the Traditional Mixed Nuts Mooncake ($98 for 4 pieces) if you want something a little less sweet. There's also the Mini Walnut Moon Tart with Yolk ($95 for 8 pieces), which is exclusive to the restaurant and has built up a bit of a cult following for its flaky pastry and crunchy walnut filling. Low-sugar versions of select flavours are available too, which is a thoughtful touch if you're gifting to older family members.
The gift box doubles as a lantern
What I find genuinely nice about this year's packaging is that it's designed around the idea of the lantern — a classic Mid-Autumn symbol of reunion. Each box comes with a small light that lets the packaging be repurposed into an actual glowing lantern after the mooncakes are gone, so it's not just going straight into the recycling bin. Small detail, but it fits the "heritage" theme they're going for.
Pricing and delivery details
If you're ordering with a DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, or Citibank card, here's the timing you'll want to pay attention to: the best rate — 30% off all boxes, regardless of quantity — only runs until 10 September 2026. That's a fairly tight window from where we are now, so if you've been meaning to order, this week is genuinely the time to do it. Once that window closes, the promo shifts to a tiered structure from 11 to 25 September 2026: 25% off for 1–30 boxes, and 30% off only kicks back in if you're ordering 31 boxes or more. So smaller orders lose 5% once the deadline passes, while bulk corporate gifting orders aren't affected either way.
Collection at the Festive Booth runs from 3 August to 25 September 2026, 11am to 7pm daily. Delivery is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, excluding weekends and public holidays, and you'll want to allow about 5 working days for processing. Orders of 60 boxes or more get free local delivery to one location, while anything below that comes with a flat $65 nett delivery charge per location.
For more details or enquiries, you can reach the hotel at +65 6349 1292 or restaurants@carltonhotel.sg.
Overall, this feels like a solid year for Wah Lok — the new tangerine peel flavour looks like the one to try if you've had the classics before, and the lantern gift box gives the whole thing a bit more staying power than your usual cardboard packaging.
