6 Activities to do at STAR WARS DAY: MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU FESTIVAL

The Force is strong last evening on ‘May the 4^th’ – also dubbed as STAR WARS Day – as Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) officially launches STAR WARS DAY: MAY THE 4^TH BE WITH YOU Festival. For three days from May 4^th to 6^th, a dazzling spectacle awaits at the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay in celebration of both ‘May the 4^th’ and the 40^th anniversary since the release of Star Wars: A New Hope.

Organised by local event organiser Esprimo and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, with event partner Gardens by the Bay and supported by Singapore Tourism Board, the festival is a full-fledged STAR WARS celebration like never before. Expect fan-led themed activities, Meet and Greets with STAR WARS characters, and a multi-sensory music and lights extravaganza for fans of all ages. The organisers have pulled out all stops to transport festival-goers to a galaxy far, far away.

SaberTrees Installation

Catch the Southeast Asia’s largest lightsaber installation – SaberTrees at the Supertree Grove as it transforms the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay into giant lightsabers that cast light beams up to 200m high!

Garden Rhapsody: STAR WARS Edition

Set against an epic STAR WARS soundtrack, expect lighting composition inspired from scenes such as Luke’s landing in Dagobah, leading to his first meeting with Yoda; the first appearance of Darth Vader with his light saber and even the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan on Mustafar from now till 2 June at 7:45pm and 8:45pm every night with additional 9:45pm shows on 4 to 6 May.

STAR WARS themed Silent Disco

On May 5^th and 6^th, hit the dance floor for some STAR WARS themed Silent Disco. With two DJs spinning tunes interwoven with the STAR WARS soundtrack, this is a dance-off between the Light and Dark sides of the Force.

STAR WARS Character Appearances

Making their first appearance in Southeast Asia are Chewbacca, one of the heroes of the Rebellion and Kylo Ren, the dark warrior from the First Order. Whichever side of the Force you are on, you will not want to miss out on the chance to take a photo with these two characters.

STAR WARS AT-ST Walker

Marvel at the iconic All-Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) – first introduced in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – standing guard at the Supertree Grove. A mainstay on-ground throughout the festival, this is your chance to get up close and personal with this towering replica. For a closer look, head up onto the OCBC Skyway for an aerial perspective of the two-legged, armoured walker set against the panoramic Marina Bay skyline.

Other Activities

More than 60 vintage STAR WARS toys produced between 1977 and 1985 and more than 200 contemporary toys produced from 1995 to present will be on display at the fan zone. There will also be an outdoor movie screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at The Meadow on May 6^th at 9:00pm·
