Punggol used to be a ghost town before development of HBD apartments took place for the young couple getting their first BTO. It is now becoming one of the hipster place in Singapore to visit with a lush park for your recreation activities as well as eateries ranging from restaurants to cafes.

In Korea, there’s common ground, a large shopping mall housed in containers, and in Bangkok, there’s Artbox, a container flea market (which is coming to Singapore soon) and right now in Singapore, we have our very own container eateries at Punggol Tebing Lane!

Some of the stores open from 3pm onwards while most of them will operate from 5pm onwards, where the crowd will start spilling in. In order to cut down on the waiting time, we visited the place on a weekend afternoon, braving through the heat and scorching sun. It’s really HOT in the afternoon if you choose to dine at the alfresco area as the air-conditioned containers are filled up very quickly.

Still, there are a few eateries here that are worth putting up with the heat for. Here’s what to check out at the Punggol East Tebing Lane Container Park.

Seoul Good Dessert Coffee

Other than serving Korean bingsu, they do serve savoury items such as Korean Fried Chicken in different flavours. As there’s a opening promo ongoing, we order a set of 4 pcs Spicy Buloggi Chicken with Iced Tea at $7.90. However, it didn’t impress us as we thought Four Fingers taste much better than this.

Big Fish Small Fish

One of the most crowded and longest waiting time goes to this stall which focus one fish and chips, with five varieties of fish for you to choose from, such as Dory ($6.90), Yellow Fin ($7.90), Red Tilapia ($7.90), Sea Bass ($9.90) and Salmon ($12.90). You can top up with home-made chips or salted egg fried calamari.

The highlight of this stall is the sauce, such as the XO Sauce and salted egg yolk mayo which goes really well with the crispy skin and sweet tender flesh of the fish, making it taste extremely yummy!

There are a few other stalls which we didn’t manage to try as they usually open from 5pm onwards. Such as the D’Grill, which offers gilled itmes and a rang of hot platters and hot plates, L’Chaim Bistro, which serves craft beer, namely Archipelago’s and beers on tap from $10 a pint to $6 for half a pint.

If any of those mentioned above seems to be a little too heavy for you, there’s also Leung Kee Healthy Desserts which specialises in Chinese desserts such as Chin Chao, sago and beancurd.

There are a total of 7 eateries available now and we are not sure if there’s any plan in expanding or to be honest, how long will these stores last. Have you visited this hipster place in Punggol? Share with us your favourite recommendation!
