Unravel Travel to Kalibo!

Whenever I told my friends that I’ll be flying to Kalibo, these are the two reactions I received from them. One, huh? where is this place? Two, Oh~ so you are going Boracay?

To be honest, I’ve no idea where Kalibo is located and when I first got to know that I’ll be travelling to Kalibo, I was alittle worried that there’s nothing much I can do there. Most of us tends to visit places that we are familiar with whenever we want to go for a short holiday but there are also alot of other destinations worth exploring too!

Thanks to Unravel Travel and Changi Airport Group, together with the two finalists selected, Jahafar and Jerrold, we went on a 3D2N trip to Kalibo! 😀

As we check in early for our flight, we visited a few places in the Airport, like the Sunflower and Butterfly Garden before heading to our boarding gate 🙂

Playing games…

and not forgetting to check on our flight status 🙂

Boarding time! Off we go~

As it wasn’t a full flight, we managed to have our own window seat 😛

The travelling time from Singapore to Kalibo is about 3 hours.

All visitors will need to fill in the arrival card as well as the health declaration checklist form.

After taking a nap in the plane, we finally arrived at Kalibo International Airport!

Getting a data card is very common among tourists nowadays as it’s cheaper and you can save from making roaming calls. I was really glad when I see this upon leaving the arrival hall. UNLIMITED DATA CARD~!!!

A data card with 5 days Unlimited data usage will cost you around 220 peso, which is about SGD 7.00 ONLY!!!!

Next, the cheapest way to travel to hop onto a tricycle instead of all the vans and cars crowding at the exit trying to catch your attention. We paid 150 peso for a less than 10 mins drive from the airport to our hotel. That’s about $5.00 for the three of us.

These tricycles can be seen everywhere on the street and it’s a very common mode of transport for the locals. The most no. of people packed in these tricycles i saw was 8! haha~

and off we go~~~

About 5 mins later, we arrived at our hotel. Premiere Business Hotel, according to TripAdvisor, it’s one of the top hotel in Kalibo, but do manage your expectation ah~ hahaha

So now here we are at Kalibo, what’s there for us to do? Check out these things that you can do on a 3D2N trip in Kalibo!

Roam around the streets!

Yes~ sometimes it’s good to roam around the streets, mingle with the locals, check out on the places they live in, how they spend their day and you will be surprised when you came across something interesting 😉

Their Mation Store, similar to our MaMa shop 😉

Pretty flowers spotted along the roadside!

Kids playing on the street on a weekday evening. very kampong lifestyle right?

Go Cafe Hopping!

Euro Asian Bakery is one of the cafe that I managed to find online and when we reach the cafe, I was abit speechless haha~ but, that’s the fun of trying something different.

Presenting you, cafe hop the Kalibo style! hahaha~ breads and pastries with your favourite latte, or wait no, your favourite 3-in-1 coffee mix 😛

and the neighbour dog decided to come pay us a visit.. or maybe the pastries a visit

Not to worry, there’s still decent cafes around and one of them is the Latte Cafe, popular among the locals and there are quite a few outlets in Kalibo. Not only you get to have nice coffee and cakes, you can purchase Havaianas in these cafes as well!

Try the Local Food!

Saylo Cuisine, according the the sources we gathered online, is the BEST restaurant in Kalibo that serve local dishes and it’s located just across the street from our hotel.

Decent interior with friendly staffs 😉

Even the menu comes in a cute presentation 😛

What a spread! 😀 yumm yumm~

Go Stay in a Eco-friendly Beach Resort

Get a driver through the hotel and go stay in an Eco-friendly Beach Resort which is about an hour ride away from the main city. As usual, be prepared that you are not going to be staying in a beach resort that you might be now visualizing, similar to those you see in bali or maldives but something more simple and relaxing.

Introducing you Phaidon Beach Resort!

Here’s our room, good enough for 3 pax!

and with a wonderful beach right in front of you!

hello joyce! 🙂

suntanning on the beach chairs…

We went for a super relaxing massage by the beach and it’s sooooo good!

and not forgetting yummy seafood dinner! 😀

Go have some Fun!

Zip-lining might be able to satify those seeking some thrill fun! It’s ard 200 peso per pax, super cheap!

getting all geared-up!

and shooo~~~~ off you go!

While they zip, i stand below and watch :X

and we made friends with the locals! they are so nice and friendly~

Go Hiking and Dip into the Malumpati Cold Spring

Yes~ you can do hiking there and it will bring you to the source of the cold spring water. It’s up to 40 metres deep in here! I wouldn’t want to fall into it man~ :X

The main highlight got to be the cold spring where the locals visit. Apparently, was told that the cold spring is good for health 😉

Food and Beers included in our tour package as well, where you can book directly from the beach resort.

Cheers!

Go on a Sunset Cruise

Yes~ you can book a sunset cruise from the beach resort as well, not having to travel all the way to Boracay for that.

Gorgeous sunset!!!!

let’s take a wefie! 😀

and a selfie maybe? 😛

Strike a yoga pose. hahaha~

Last shot before the sun went down the horizon.

and just when you’re having so much fun there, you’ve realised that the trip is coming to an end 🙁 If you have more time, do consider giving yourself one or two more days there and go on the various interesting eco-friendly tour provided by the beach resort.

Yes by saying that the beach resort is eco-friendly, they do not have any water sports like paragliding, banana boat etc. They only have sunset cruise and scuba diving there. 🙂 and most importantly it’s very non-commercial. you don’t see vendors walking around on the beach asking you to buy this and that, which some may have experienced it in Boracay.

Special thanks to Unravel Travel and Changi Airport Group for making this trip happen and it was an enjoyable trip, traveling with Jerrold and Jahafar!

Do show your support for them by voting for their travel entry on this trip to Kalibo! You stand a chance to with Changi Dollar vouchers!

Lastly here’s a short montage to summarize our Kalibo trip! ;D
