Following the success of its VivoCity flagship, the popular gastro-bar, The Chop House has opened a new outlet at I12 Katong! Created by the same team behind the acclaimed Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, The Chop House is a gastro-bar that serves classic feel-good fare and an impressive range of ice cold draught beer.
The Katong outlet comes in a modern industrial decor that provides the ideal setting for casual, relaxed meals and cosy gatherings all day and diners can even enjoy a late night meal while they catch their favourite sports match too!
In order for The Chop House to serve the best meats at affordable prices, a Southbend broiler from the U.S.(the same model that sears Wooloomooloo’s famous steaks) is used at the Katong branch as well.
We visited the place in the early afternoon and had a sumptuous and satisfying brunch at The Chop House. Here’s what we’ve ordered for the day 🙂
We started our with Half A Dozen Freshly Shucked Oysters $26++, served fresh with lemon, eschalot and red wine vinegar. I’m not really a oyster person but I must say that the oyster taste really good and I had two! haha~
We also had some appetisers to share. Burrata and Vine Ripened Tomato Salad with Basil Pesto $16++ and we quite like it.
Quesadillas – Beef $19++, Tomatoes and Jack’s Cheddar Cheese, folded into a bread tortilla, served with Guacamole, Sour Cream and Salsa Pico De Gallo.
Bangers and Mash $16++, featuring Pork and Honey Sausages, served over creamy mashed potato, onion and red wine sauce and our favourite Mussels Mariniere $24++, cooked in White Wine with Garlic, Shallots, Celery and Parsley.
We also had the Mixed Seafood Grill for 2 $58++, with a general servings of Salmon, Prawns, Calamari and Mussels stuffed with herbs and breadcrumbs served with roasted tomatoes and a zesty parsley salsa.
The Aussie Burger $26++, one half pound beef patty topped with tomatoes, lettuce, onion jam, beetroot, bacon and look at the sunny side up which makes it look so yummy! unfortunately, I didn’t get to try it 🙁
For me, I enjoyed the pasta very much. Tagliatelle with Mussels $20++, tossed in a rich spiced tomato broth.
Before we end our meal with dessert, we got to try out the draught beer at the bar counter.
We got to try the Pure Blonde Lager (Australia) $9++ and Weihenstephaner Weissebier (Germany) $10++. Are you able to tell the difference between these two?
I even got a chance to tap my own beer 🙂
Cheers!
For desserts, we had the Sago Gula Melaka $6++, Chilled Sago Pudding With Creamy Coconut Milk And Gula Melaka Ice Cream Topped With Pistachios as well as the Churros $6++, Deep fried sugar coated Donuts served with Chocolate and Creme Anglaise dipping sauces.
The Apple Strudel Tortillas $8++, stuffed With Seasoned Apples and Pastry Cream, served with Vanilla Ice Cream and Custard Crème Anglaise taste not too bad too
The Chop House chill and laidback environment is definitely a good place for a gathering with loved ones, catch a football match on the 80-inch TV screen, or stay out
till midnight for beers and good food.
