To be honest, I always find it frustrating whenever i’m in a hurry and it’s forever so hard to get a cab on the road. So the next thing you will do is to book a cab and you will be stuck either at the dialing tone waiting for someone to pick up your call OR receiving an sms telling you that there’s no cab at the moment.
But now, not to worry as I’ve something to introduce to you! I’m sure most of you are aware of GrabTaxi, where you can make bookings through the app on your mobile phone. Now, they are introducing the new GrabCar booking system!
GrabCar is a private hire vehicle booking service from GrabTaxi, the leading transportation booking mobile app in Southeast Asia. Launched in July 2014, GrabCar complement GrabTaxi’s taxi booking services by offering premium 4-seaters, 6 and 13 seaters for commuters travelling in style or in groups with luggages.
However taxi demand still exceeds supply during peak hours, therefore GrabCar(Economy) was launched to provide an alternative option to get a ride!
I was running late the other day for my event at IMM, and I’m staying in the North wast area (SUPER FAR RIGHT?!), I decided to take a cab there. Knowing that i’ll not be able to get cab instantly if I were to hail one along the road, i decided to try out the GrabTaxi app !
Firstly, before you can start making bookings, you will need to download the GrabTaxi app, which is available for free on both App Store and Google Play.
Selecting locations is easy. You just need to type in the landmark or the name of the shopping mall and it will appear in your search results. You can event link it with foursquare as well!
Once you’ve selected your pickup and drop off location, and extimated fare for your journey will be reflected. Add on any notes, for example, at the lobby or taxi stand etc, as well as any Promo code (Make sure you read till the end of the post for SPECIAL promo code for you!) before you confirm your booking.
Once a booking is confirmed, you will received your assigned driver’s details, including name, mobile no, vehicle registration number as well as his photo. You will now be able to track the driver’s movements as he moves towards you and the expected time of arrival too 🙂
So, what is the difference between GrabCar (Economy) and GrabCar+ Premium since both are 4 seaters vehicles?
GrabCar (Economy) is catered towards the everyday taxi user seeking an affordable alternative when they are unable to get a taxi, while GrabCar+ Premium offers a premium range of vehicles models such as Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-series, and obviously at a higher fare.
It was a pleasant experience placing my booking from the mobile app and the journey to my destination was smooth as well 🙂
