Mooncakes & Wine Tasting at Xin Cuisine, Holiday Inn Atrium

The Mid Autumn Festival is just round the corner and you will be able to see mooncakes from the various brands out there, coming up with interesting, or maybe unusual taste and very nice packaging to attracts you and stand out from the others. Last week, i had my first piece of mooncake at the mooncake and wine tasting session, organized by OpenRice singapore and hosted by Xin Cuisine, Holiday Inn Atrium.

We got to try out the traditional mooncakes which comes in 3 different flavour.

The normal lotus paste with egg yolk which is my all time favourite.

The X.O Sauce with Assorted Nuts Mooncake (S56) where a medley of luxurious nuts surround Xin’s special homemade X.O sauce delivering a multitude of sensations to the palate. Personally i find this mooncake a little different from the usual one as mooncake tends to taste sweet but this is more to the salty taste.

And the best selling and award winning mooncake handcrafted by Chef Cheung Kin Nam, Xin’s Mini Special Egg Custard with Egg Yolk mooncake has been a gem to the taste bud of many, embellished by its rich, smooth and endless elegance of enchanting creamy custard and a lightly bake outer crust. Oh im so loving it!

If you are one that prefer the snowskin mooncake instead of the traditional, Xin Cuisine provides a wide variety of snowskin mooncake for you to choose from 🙂

The Green Tea Lotus Paste with Chivas Chocolate Snowskin Mooncake ($50), a rich whisky ganache complementing the smooth texture of the green tea lotus paste. It one of my favourite from the snowskin mooncake range too.

Looking for something more adventurous? How about tempting your palate with the Black Sesame Paste with Peanut and Chocolate Snowskin Mooncake ($50)

Try out the lastest creation by Chef Cheung, The Passion Fruit Paste Snowskin Mooncake ($50). The tangy and refreshing taste is wonderfully complemented with fresh mango. Truely aromatic 🙂

Durian lover? You will love the Xin’s Mini Snowskin Peranakan Mooncake with Durian Paste ($50), a purplish blue gem naturally flavoured with the Blue Pea flower which has a fragrant and luxurious durian filling.

Not forgetting packaging which i personally feel that it’s one important factor that attracts the public to buy the mooncake. And from Xin Cuisine, their packaging is extremely attractive! don’t you agree with me?

Other than mooncakes, we were given red and white win to match with the different types of mooncakes too!

Thanks to Open Rice for the invitation and i had a great time catching up with other bloggers which we’ve not seem each other for quite sometime, and most importantly, great wine and mooncakes to end the evening.

Oh and something to share with you! Enjoy an exclusive 30% off your mooncakes from Xin Cuisin when you quote “OpenRice Mooncake Promotion” (valid for the first 100 boxes until 30 Aug only)!

Visit Open Rice Facebook page and Mooncake Microsite as they are giving away 12 boxes of mooncakes!
