Bingsu is one of the craze from Korea that hit Singapore not long ago and you’ll noticed that this korean dessert which somehow resemble the Taiwan Chua Bing (shaved ice) is not something cheap that will makes you go back again for more. Or perhaps the price tag for this dessert store is just too high for me.
It was crowded when we visited the store last christmas and we had to wait awhile before we managed to get a seat. I love the spacious white and simple decor with a “snow falling” feature in the middle of the restaurant.
Ice Lab was opened by this Korean comedian called Shin Jung Hwan which to be honest, I’ve no idea who he is, but ranging from the no. of congratulatory video clips he received, such as those casts from Running Man, I guess he is quite well loved in Korea?
So after making a tough decision, we decided to get two bingsu to share among 4 pax, thinking that with such steep prices, the portion should be reasonably huge for sharing.
Overall the portion didn’t really wow us and it didn’t taste as WOW as we thought it would be. I think I would go for my Mango ice which at most cost me $8 with generous serving of mango and topped with a mango ice cream.
Though this is one expensive dessert, there is still it’s unique charm that will make people pay willingly for it. Since there are so many different bingsu stores around in Singapore now, I share go find that perfect one that is reasonably price and taste good.
