New Majestic Hotel Singapore

A combination of modernity, international design with local inspiration, New Majestic Hotel housed in a traditional conservation shop house located in the heart of Chinatown was Singapore’s First Design Hotel, featuring an emphasis on strong design, local culture and the Arts.

The New Majestic Hotel is a boutique hotel under the Unlisted Collection as well as a member of Design Hotels which belongs to the Starwood Group where you can earn SPG (starwoods) points for your stay here. In 2003, the exterior was restored to its original state and the lobby ceiling was stripped to reveal the previous paintwork. The restoration earned it a national Architectural Heritage Award and furnishing such as old dentist’s chairs and theatre seat can be found at the hotel lobby.

There is a total of 30 unique rooms, individually designed by local artists to create and integrate an element of local Art into the hotel’s spaces. All artwork featured are original, site-specific and fully-integrated into the spaces, working with the hotel’s unique room types.

We got ourselves checked into the Premier Pool Rooms which measures approximately 20 square meters. The room was designed by Kng Mian Tze, titled A STORY. Mirrors was used extensively in this room to create a bigger space.

The Sealy Posturepedic Queen Size bed was nice to sleep on and there’s complimentary WiFi in room as well as complimentary non-alcoholic beverages from the minbar that all guests can enjoy. Its unique bathroom provide premium Kiehl Toiletries and Ploh bathrobes too

Although it’s a boutique hotel, there is a glass bottom pool that you can soak in and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding.

The New Majestic Hotel is located in a quiet corner of the vibrant Chinatown, a 5-minute walk from Outram Park MRT Station and a train ride to the shopping belt of Orchard Road is only 15 minutes away.

UPDATE: After 11 years of operation, New Majestic Hotel will bid farewell on 1 June 2017 to make way for new developments and they have stopped reservations from 15 May 2017 onward.
