ION Orchard ushers in Chinese New Year with a ‘Stream of Abundance’ from now to 19 February 2019.
Open throughout the season, including the first and second days of the Lunar New Year (5 and 6 February 2019), the mall will be decked out in vibrant colours and patterns inspired by the Koi, a fish that represents good fortune, prosperity, longevity and success in the Chinese culture. Visitors will stroll through a festive Chinese garden on Level 3, enjoy high octane lion dance performances, marvel at the calligraphy skills of a local artist and savour an array of traditional Chinese New Year goodies.
Chinese New Year light projection show at ION Sky
In line with the festive theme of Koi fish, visitors can catch a multimedia project lightshow of Koi fish swimming with grace through a stream of abundance amid a cherry blossom forest. This special themed lightshow is available from 21 January to 19 February 2019 at ION Sky on level 56, the highest point along Orchard Road.
Lion Dance performance and Roving God of fortune
Visitors and shoppers can catch energetic lion dance performances (5, 6, 9, 10, 16 & 17 February) at the Level 1 Atrium or look out for the God of Fortune (5,6 February), as he will be roving around the mall and handing out delicious sweets and festive treats.
Take home a Complimentary Calligraphy Greeting
Visitors to the mall can take home a complimentary seasonal greeting penned by renowned Chinese calligraphy artist, Shen Guang Han, on selected dates during Chinese New Year at ION Orchard. These scrolls will feature delicate hand letterings of auspicious and meaningful words. A living icon in the local art industry, Shen is well versed in Chinese palaeography and has years of experience writing, teaching and demonstrating various Chinese scripts.
Learn about your Zodiac sign at the Chinese Garden
Horoscope fans and interested shoppers can learn more about their Chinese Zodiac sign and predictions for the New Year at curated displays at a vibrant and beautifully designed Chinese Garden at ION Orchard’s Level 3 from 8 January onwards. On display is a splendid arrangement of oriental panels decorated with swimming Koi, floating lily blossoms, as well as an animated fish pond, adding to the garden’s festive allure.
