‘We Love SG” – Chingay Parade 2015

The First Formal Chingay Parade in Singapore started on 4 February 1973 where the PA (People’s Associations) teamed up with the Singapore National Pugilistic Federation for a grand show in the Year of the Ox. This act was mooted by the then-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew who was also the chairman of the People’s Association, that Chingay, with all its noise and gaiety, would compensate for the ban on firecrackers, a customary New Year practice to drive away evil spirits. It was extremely well received that it became an annual festival and Chingay had its 40th anniversary in 2012. This year, in celebrations of SG50, Chingay will be having the biggest and grandest parade in Chingay history! Themed “We Love SG” (我们爱新加坡), the 43rd Chingay parade will be presented by 11,000 beautiful multi-cultural performers! Special thanks to PA, we got to go on a preview as well as a behind the scene tour in advanced! ;) Vroom Vroom~ expect some roaring sound in this year parade! One million colourful “We Love SG Flowers” handcrafted from used plastic …
